- Practice answering common interview questions such as strengths and weaknesses, your achievements, and your experience.
Prepare Questions:
- Have thoughtful questions about the company, team, or role to show your genuine interest. You will want to arrange these questions in some kind of order so that they know that you’re well organized.
Dress Appropriately:
- Wear professional attire that aligns with the company’s dress code.
Bring Required Items:
- Carry extra copies of your resume, a notepad, and a pen.
Arrive Early:
- Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled time. Try to drive to their location a day or so prior to your interview so that you can understand the traffic patterns.

- Structure your answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for behavioral questions. Keep your answers short and sweet. Avoid being longwinded in your response.
Highlight Achievements:
- Emphasize your accomplishments and how they relate to the job. Again, keeping your achievements short and sweet.
Adaptability:
- Be ready to adapt your responses to different interview styles (behavioral, situational, technical).
Handle Nerves:
- Take deep breaths if you feel nervous and remember that it’s normal to be a bit anxious.
- Preparing your responses for different questions prior to your interview will help you with nervousness.
Stay Positive:
- Even if asked about challenges or weaknesses, focus on how you’ve overcome them or learned from them. Again, only touch on the negative but move quickly towards the positive.
After the Interview –
Express Gratitude:
- Before the interview ends, ask one final question. Ask; do you have any concerns pertaining to my background and experience. You will want to address their concerns before ending the interview.
- Send a thank-you email or note within 24 hours expressing your appreciation for the opportunity.
Reflect on the Experience:
- Evaluate your performance and identify areas for improvement.
Follow Up:
- If you haven’t heard back within the expected time frame, follow up with a polite email to inquire about the status.
